PROVEN METHODS FOR SUCCESS
OUR APPROACH

Student Buy-In
For Executive Function coaching, we meet with each student to create a formal assessment and written evaluation. We talk one-on-one with the student to discuss the student’s goals, challenges, and obstacles to achieving success, and how we will work together to help the student manage those obstacles, learn strategies to achieve success, and feel good about themselves.
Our goal is to get student buy-in. The student must be ready to consider new strategies and routines to manage their academic schoolwork as well as life in general. If a student is ready and willing to learn, then we are ready to begin.
Individualized Programs
Each student comes to us with a unique set of challenges and strengths, different maturity levels and readiness for change. We create a highly individualized plan to meet the student where she is and to set her up for success.

Parental Involvement and Communication
Our success is based on the strong relationships we create with each student to motivate and support her, our ability to clearly teach effective strategies that help the student experience success, and consistent communication with both student and parent.
In the first phase of Executive Function coaching, we meet first with the student and then with the parent to discuss the written assessment of the student, his strengths and areas to develop, and review a suggested coaching plan.
Throughout the process, parents are kept abreast of their student’s goals and the strategies being taught and practiced to attain those goals. We also guide parents in supporting and encouraging their student in an effective, helpful manner. This can help gradually turn an emotionally charged event (homework time) to one that is calm and supportive.
Students learn to define their learning and study strategies in a new way, often with less anxiety and frustration. As anxiety lessens and confidence increases, we often see a positive change in the atmosphere at home.
Consistent Support and Coaching
Regular check-ins and frequent communication have a significant impact on the success of the student whose goal is to begin to change his routines and academic habits and learn new strategies.
The initial phase of our Executive Skills coaching includes meeting one-on-one weekly. This helps the student stay true to her goals and helps manage obstacles that may arise. The student has ownership of this process as she has helped create the plan. And, we as coaches take the pressure off of parents.
As the student learns these strategies for academic success and begins to internalize them, support is gradually phased out as the student becomes more independent and self-sufficient.
